Our Milk Money  January 2010
Happy New Year!!
We have only just begun a new decade and already it seems as if there is a cutting-edge enthusiasm among all of us! New developments are materializing in every direction, and passionate parents across the country have learned that there IS an alternative to daycare and unemployment.
Despite 9 million jobs that were lost in 2009,  families have fought to survive and many have figured out that it is not only possible, it can be surprisingly more simple and less stressful to bring one parent home. As always, is here to support you in these endeavors, to remind you of the power that we have as consumers, to inspire the rebirth of a new economy that supports us rather than enslaves us, and to help you to realize the reality of your potential, and the potential for a better reality. Never again, will parents allow themselves to be forced to choose between parenting their children and earning to provide for them.
Regretfully, I must announce that my long time partner, Kelli Shand has decided to withdraw from her position in the OMM Organization. From the very beginning, Kelli was there to help build this fantastic and meaningful community based on a simple vision to make things just a little easier for families everywhere. I am sad to see her go, but overwhelmed with gratitude for her contributions, which to a large extent, lead us to the incredible journey that we are on right now.
As the new sole owner, I stand before you, ready to deliver. Three years ago, I was that mother who came into work each morning brushing away the tears after just dropping my new baby boy off at daycare for the 50th hour that week, praying for a way to work from home.  I am the one who understands you, the love you have for your children, and your desire for a greater tomorrow. I am ready to lead and inspire you to claim the life that you and your family deserves, to be the port in your storm, and to remind you that the harder it rains, the brighter the rainbow will be.
As we head into 2010, let us resolve to persevere together, and use our power as consumers to foster those that are earning the right to stay home with their children.
Wishing you and all those you love a HAPPY and HEALTHY NEW YEAR!

"My milk money pays for... family and our life with 3 children."

The Daddy's Den

At Our Milk Money, we don't discriminate. Moms have great stories to share, but so do the Dads. "My milk money pays for...
...My 13 year old daughter, Alannah who wants to be in a band and writes songs and my 9 year old son, Aidan who aspires to drive his sister crazy by mimicking her at least 5 times per day!"
Laurel Crossley-Byers, Founder of Opti-Mom

Partnership Spotlights offers advice, support and humour to parents (and prospective parents) from the point of view of a stay-at-home dad in the UK. It includes guidance on everything from potty training to surviving a zombie invasion, along with reviews of such housedad essentials as home delivery services and films with explosions. Being a stay-at-home parent is often isolating, particularly for men. Although housedads are more common than they used to be, they're still spread pretty thinly. They rarely get to meet up and talk about concerns and interests like moms do. It can be daunting walking into a parent and toddler group only to discover it's packed with thirty sleep-deprived moms and that there isn't another man in sight. DadsDinner lets dads know they're not alone, while passing on helpful tips and raising some smiles.
